The dark... it's so cold, but... inviting.
It's like it's calling to me.
Should I answer?
She didn't wake up immediately. For a long time, it felt like she was still asleep, wrapped tightly in the never ending dark that felt almost like an old friend. Then the light came, turning the inside of her eyelids a deep red. Slowly, Aria opened them, squinting in the bright light the sun could only be casting at high noon. It wasn't noon when she was walking to her friend's house... in fact, it was about five in the afternoon, the last time she'd checked her music player. How long had she been asleep?
Next was the heat. Or, rather, the lack thereof. It wasn't nearly as hot as it was supposed to be. Especially with the sun out and all. Slowly, she pushed herself up on her elbows into a sort of lounging sit and looked around.
"Oh... that's why it's not hot anymore."
There was sand. An ocean of sand, stretching out in every direction, broken only by a few sporadic landmarks; a cave that seemed to rise from the sand like a hungry maw; a small pond with crystal water, and some sort of weird grass growing just out of clear sight. Aside from that, there was nothing even remotely resembling her home town. Aria quickly got to her feet, heart fluttering softly.
"H...hello? she tried feebly, not expecting a response. "Is anyone there?" There was no response, of course. Why would there be? This was a desert.
The water turned out to be quite drinkable, and not nearly as stagnant as she'd thought. Once she'd had her fill, she eyed the cave, then the plants in the distance. The cave would be there when she got back. Those plants might even be edible, if she was lucky. And it wasn't all that far away. And where there was vegetation, there might even be a sign of life. Animals, at least. That is, if it had actually been grass she was making her way towards. Or plant life of any kind.
As she drew closer, the plants started looking more and more like sticks. It wasn't until she was almost on top of them that she realized they weren't anything that had ever been alive in any way.
All she could manage was a hoarse, "Whoa." There was a massive procession of weapons, all jutting from the sand as slight angles. No two looked alike, though all seemed to resemble swords. No... not swords.
"Keys... they're all keys."
She eyed her violin case. It had been a long while since she'd had something In there larger than a book. And it might came in handy, who knows? Her eyes flew over he blades, looking for one that stood out. They were in all shapes, sizes and colors; this could take a while.
